Big City Plan Talk: Question R3

There seems very few areas within Birmingham city centre that accommodate a large number of smaller shops. Most the the main areas are taken up by large shop fronts that swamp the presence of smaller retailers.

In the redevelopment of Priory Square shopping precinct, it would be fantastic to see an entire section dedicated to smaller retail stores that could be used by independant retailers.

At present the shopping areas are very disjointed and I would welcome more of a shopping jouney with less emphasis around the Bull Ring area. For Birmingham to be a true shopping destination which is what Retail Birmingham want, we need independent retailers and for this there needs to be more units that are set up for this. From a visitors point of view it is about discovery / differnt shopping experiences (not jsut large scale glossy / face less retail areas) but streets to meander through, markets etc.
